Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven significant changes in people's transaction patterns, including in rural areas. One of them is the increasing use of digital payments such as e-wallets, mobile banking, and other fintech applications, which are now also used in Sindangmukti Village. Behind this convenience, concerns arise about the increase in consumptive behavior that is contrary to Islamic economic principles. This study aims to determine: (1) the consumptive behavior of the Sindangmukti village community on the use of digital payment; (2) the impact of the use of digital payment on the financial management of the Sindangmukti village community; (3) Islamic economic review of the consumptive behavior of the Sindangmukti village community on the use of digital payment. The method used is descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, and data is collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that people use digital payments because of efficiency, but have not applied Islamic economic principles such as simplicity, avoiding israf, and halal-haram considerations. There are indications of consumptive behavior, especially impulsive shopping in the marketplace. Although digital payments provide benefits, continuous education is needed so that people are wiser and in accordance with Islamic values. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of Islamic financial education in the use of digital payments.
